Regarding Horse Slaughter

As of tomorrow the Agriculture Appropriations bill which contains words to STOP the practice of the American horses being hauled to slaughterplants for human consumption here as well as to Mexico and Canada will be voted on by the house.
There may be a amendment to strip the entire provison. We can’t have that happen after all the efforts we have put up here in Texas.
Please just make a quick phone call to your U.S. Representative and leave a message urging your strong support to end horse slaughter and opposition that would strike the language otherwise. Capital switchboard (202) 224-3121

Yes thank-you very much. In the last 5 weeks I have turned down the offer of 7 free horses. Registered AQHA yearlings are selling for $35-$100 through the sale ring while broke riding horses bring $100-$300. A local rancher was planning to have a dispersal sale next Saturday, but cancelled it-they are hoping that things will turn around. Hay and grain have hit new highs, the economy is slowing and winter is coming on, what do you think that people will do. Gee do I pay my mortgage and utilities or do I feed a 1,000# animal that I can’t even give away? I hope that you are willing to put your money where your mouth is and donate to those resues.
